Helpful Ways to Get Pregnant

There are literally hundreds of tips to help you fall pregnant. Some may work for you, others may not. Here are a handful of the top tips to help you get pregnant.
Timing
Did you know that there are typically just 48-72 hours in a ‘normal’ 28 day cycle, where you have the ‘best’ chance of getting pregnant?
With that said, the ideal time to get pregnant is the few days in your cycle leading up to ovulation.
Fertile Cervical Mucus
Cervical mucus that is fertile is crucial in getting pregnant. It has ingredients that help sperm swim up towards the egg to fertilize it. It is often described as resembling ‘egg whites.’
Have Sex Regularly
Seems pretty obvious but with our lives being so hectic it’s not always as easy as it seems. If you aren’t timing your cycle, it would be wise to have sex every 48 hours, just to make sure you don’t miss your window of opportunity.
Know When You Ovulate
Most women don’t have the ‘regular’ 28 day cycle. Don’t despair as there are a few methods to help.
- Ovulation Predictor Kit
Can let you know within 24-48 hours of when you are likely to ovulate. Problem is they are fairly costly and you may miss your ovulation if you ovulate too quickly.
- Record Your Cervical Mucus Pattern
Learning how your cervical mucus changes throughout your cycle can greatly increase your odds of conceiving. Shortly after your period you’ll typically have little discharge, this gradually changes to sticky white, then to thick white as it increases. While increasing it changes to watery or clear and stretchy, often described as ‘egg whites.’ The fertile ‘egg white’ cervical mucus appears just prior to ovulation.
- Chart Your Temperature At Rest (Basal Body Temperature)
This one can be quite stressful. It involves charting your temperature every morning. The idea being you are looking for a monthly pattern and by a slight rise in temperature, you can verify ovulation. Problem is you don’t pinpoint ovulation until after the fact.
Weight
Make sure your weight is in check. Being too heavy or light can affect ovulation. If you don’t ovulate, you can’t get pregnant.
Pre-Natal Vitamins
It is very important to make sure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs. Folic acid is essential in reducing the risk of various developmental issues.
Position
Experts agree that the missionary position increases the odds of conception. There is deeper penetration, the sperm are closer to the cervix and have less distance traveling to the egg. Keeping the hips elevated afterward, gives gravity a chance to assist.
Using these tips will help increase your chances of getting pregnant. Keeping in mind that it’s not going to happen overnight, it’s not unusual for a healthy couple to take up to a year to get pregnant. Good Luck!
