And ask a relative or babysit for her while she goes to the store or restaurant. So she can treat herself to something nice for the day.

<br

Does she have a digital (or film) camera? They aren't expensive these days.

<br

Or perhaps you could find something in the house that is particularly run down and replace it!

<br

I wasn't given a full drink but I was always allowed to taste any alcoholic beverage that my parents were drinking. I was drunk for the first time when I was 8 because of a misunderstanding between my mother and father who thought that my mother had ok'd it to give me full drinks on New Year's Eve... I turned out ok but many of my classmates who were brought up that way have alcohol problems today.I don't let my kids drink alcohol. They don't get to "taste" it, either. I seriously doubt that they will ever develop a mystery and fascination to it. A former neighbor of ours was an alcoholic. Every so often, she'd fall when she was drunk and couldn't get up by herself. In the morning, she'd call to ask for help and I'd find her in a puddle of vomit and human waste. My kids don't want to end up that way. Both kids consider alcohol to be on the same level as hard drugs.

<br
