Q&A: How quickly do birth control pills work?

Question by njgirl: I just started taking birth contol pills, so I’m still in the first package, just starting week four. I am sexually active with my boyfriend, and was just wondering if the birth control pills are effective in the first package, or if it takes a few sets of pills to really work. Any advice/help is appreciated.

Question by Megan L: I gave birth 2 weeks ago and had been breast feeding up until yesterday as i had to be rushed to hospital due to severe pain in my uterus. I found out i have a uterus infection so i need to go on some pretty hard core antibiotics. Due to this my doctor has suggested formula for the time i am on the antibiotics as it can be a possible danger to my lil girl if i breast feed while on antibiotics. My question is, how often would i need to express in order to keep my milk flow so i can put her back on the breast after i have finished my course of antibiotics???

My 5 month old is sleeping from 7pm-3am do i need to pump my breasts/will milk dry up cause hes going so long?

Question by jessica v: i know its supply and demand when your breastfeeding, so will this lenghth of time(8-9 hours) lessen my milk production? when i wake up at 3 to feed him, i have to pump and then feed him cause they are so engorged. but i love the fact i can sleep for that long, and its not so bad pumping and feeding at one time…just wondered if its bad for supply thanks

My baby reacted badly to breast milk WHY? Please Read…?

Has any one experienced a baby who fell ill from breast milk? PLEASE READ?
It started around week 2, he would cry at every feed, pull back and scream! I tried to express the fore milk, attempted to offer full, semi full, half and finally near empty breast, nothing helped him, then his sleeping issues started, he would cry and cry, nothing would settle him and I mean nothing, he was worse during the day than night?
Every health professional I spoke to told me to keep BF so I did.
He became worse and even more irrittable and only gaining little weight. At week 5 he was diagnosed with reflux, he was put on medication. I then expressed milk and gave it to him in a bottle – I thought it may have been my let down, well he reacted the same way.
Week 7 he was still bad and now loosing weight, I went on a food elimination diet and further tests were conducted and in the same week he was hospitilised because he couldn’teat for 11 hours. He had a tube stuck in his nose wich lead to his belly, I expressed the milk that lead to his belly, he was still unsettled.
Poo, urine, ultra sound tests came back ok. He was realesed after 2 days of tube feeding as he was rehyrated.
shortly after he started fluro green poos, 2-3 times at each feed and still gaining little wieght.
He was hospitilaised again he was put on a behaviour monitor chart. He was released after 2 days.
Week 10 he is missrible, still not sleeping, only gaining little weight, screaming-not crying screaming! Some times it would take 2 hours just to get him to take 1/2 breast!
What was going on?
So I decided to try formula for reflux babies, hey presto green poos stopped in 3 feeds, he started to become more settled and would now sleep.
Now he is a happy baby, ok so I tried the full, near full, half, nearly empty breast feeding and that didn’t help him, I elimnated all suggested food groups. My milk supply was good and he was fine from birth to 2weeks.
I attempted to give him breast milk from a bottle again 1 week ago and from only 1 feed his symptoms started to come back. So now I wont feed him anything else but formula.
The strangest thing is no matter how he had the Breast milk (either from me or bottle) he reacted the same way?
I just wanted to know if any one had experienced this or new of what it could be?
Also I went on the elimination diet for dairy, wheat,egg,nuts,asian greens, caffine,garlic, onions, iron supplements, soy, tomatoes, capsicum, chilli and curry. Basically a very bland diet for 3 weeks.

Q&A: lost my mucus plug am I going to go into labor soon?

Question by Amanda R: I am 35 weeks pregnant. I was 1/2 cm dilated, and then within 3 days became 1cm. I felt something was wrong and went to the doctor. I felt sick. The doctor said it could be early labor. Two hours later I saw a large amount of dark blood clots and bright blood. I called the doctor and they said it was my mucus plug and examined me. The thing is, I still feel like somethings not right. My baby girl dropped at 31 weeks, and I have been having contractions since then. What is wrong with me? They think it will be early labor but they can’t be sure. What does this mean?! Everyone I know said after they lost there mucus plug they had their baby that week. That I am having all the same symptoms that they all had. Any advice? I feel like someone is pulling on my baby, and making me feel like I am going to hurl.

I’m not into parenting and I’m not a parent. Should i still apply when i get my foot in the door at a big magazine company?
When i say not into kids its like im uncomfortable when people hand me their new baby and I really don’t get excited over babies or baby photos
