What is going on with all the recalls on Children’s Toys????

3 March 2010 7 Responses

A Parent asks, I am really concerned about the amount of toys that are being recalled due to health safety. Here is Australia out toy of the year has been recalled, because kids are getting really sick from it, to the point on mother thought her daughter was going to die (was on ten’s late news)!!
This is the toy of the year; can you imagine how many people have this toy in their homes?? I know I bought a few for my niece’s Christmas presents.
They say this toy actually turned into a form of liquid Ecstasy when ingested. How scary!!
I am so sick of having cheap labour making our toys, and then kids getting sick from them. There needs to be a better screening procedure before they hit our shelves, don’t you think???
What are your thoughts on the matter???
Here is some information on the story I am talking about:

SORRY, I when I did my spell check it changed illegal drug fantasy to Ecstasy!! :)

its wrong and yes they shoudl of been tasted a bit more before being stock on the selves but would you rather have the recall then someone you gave the toy too be a serious victim of it

I never herd of the liquid ecstasy that might be a wild story on the net but i do know here in america china “accidentally” used LEAD PAINT to paint a bunch of toys for kids ages 1-10

It’s not Ecstasy but it’s no less dangerous.

I guess the government are to blame. They should be on top of the government testing labs that test the products before they are allowed into the country.

I would never accept a label on a product that says it meets or exceeds the minimum standards unless it was made in my country. Then I know that it has been through rigorous testing.

Quality is “pay now or pay later”.

Making toys cheap by using cheap (outsourced) labor and then foregoing the quality- and safety assurance leads to situations like this which are expensive and dangerous for us all.

Yes, the government should hold imported goods under scrutiny (as they should with all goods), but we consumers are to blame for providing the market force for this practice: we demand the lowest prices on consumer products. Demand created supply — of cheap, dangerous products.

Yes, this is some scary stuff. Who determines an ingested toy turns into a form of ecstacy? Thats too wierd since the same chemicles are not really there. I think if we would all support toys and other things only “made in USA”, we wouldn’t have all those problems. Unfortunately, as I went to college for business, I see why everything is bought from other countrys etc….for #1, alot of us americans are lazy and exspect top pay with unions etc…of course all is cheaper somewhere else with cheap labor. It’s amazeing just how much cheaper the same things are just by cutting down on the labor from ordering from other countrys. And then we pay taxes how many times on the same things to get them here? And its still cheaper? I probley said too much that no one understands, went too deap. But if the government wants to play “big brother”, I wish they would look out for us adults as much as they do our children. Can you imagine all the recalls on cars?

I think it’s kind of silly, actually. Hey, here’s a thought: DON’T LET YOUR KIDS EAT THEIR TOYS.
