Question by Rhi: I have to write a feature article on why we celebrate Mothers Day and was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on it or even how you celebrate it, or don’t.

In India every day is mother’s day. As a matter of fact the celebration of such days is not there in the Indian culture.
The implication of such a celebration is that you need to think of them on that one day of the year and forget them for the rest of the year.
Even birthdays are more for children, unless it is the sixtieth or hundredth, in which case it is more a religious activity.
I think we celebrate mothers day by showing appretiation to our mothers for giving birth to us and become succefull mothers and we are giving them credit for their support in everything and anything that we do or things that we want to try.
There is a small section on the history of it on the below site. I do celebrate it and really have never known anyone who didn’t. I just usually go out for dinner with my husband to celebrate it, I know sometimes my mom and dad go to the casinos.
