The reason is… its bloody hard work! Have a hard think about it and do alot of research before you get one because there are many potential deadly things for bunnies which people dont know about. If you live in australia I reccomend you research the RSPCA and think about adopting from there but before then, theres the issue with your parents:

All I can really say is research bunnies alot and then tell them how much you know, where they’d live and have a regular schedule. That’ll show them.

PS. Please do alot of research on bunnies BEFORE you get them! They’re a long term commitment and hard to look after.

try showing them you are responsible. also are you sure you are Ready? you cant get a rabbit put it in a cage and feed it it need exercise and love! ask yourself-
will i be able to put up with cleaning out a cage once a week?
will i get bored of it?
do i have enough room in my backyard?
will i be able to give it the love it needs?
will i be able to feed it twice a day?
will i be able to let it out for runs of a day/
if you think your ready research on them and show your parents thats what i do :)

The thing is, and I’ve been guilty of this, you often think you’re responsible and the idea of caring for an animal may seem really fun in your head, but in reality it’s actually hard work. If you really want a pet rabbit then do a ton of research. Rabbits need a large cage or hutch. They need fresh food, water and hay every day. They also like greenery like green leafy vegetables and grass but don’t give them too much because it can make them ill. Make sure you clean them out regularly. At least once a week. They need lots of love and attention. It’s important that they always have hay as it provides them with bedding and it helps keep their teeth healthy. If a rabbit’s teeth become too overgrown it can cause a lot of pain and discomfort and they’ll stop eating. We’ve had that problem with two of our rabbits recently but we took them to the vet and they were given a special food which helps keep their teeth down. If you notice the rabbit not eating then take it to the vet.
If you do get a rabbit, or if you want any information then visit the site in the source box and send a message if you want. It’s my mum’s website and she knows loads about rabbits. She’s been keeping them for over 40 years.

    Good luck :)
