A Parent asks, – Under the age of 18
- Literally learned, not just knew “a lot”.
- No one in your family speaks it
- Without leaving the USA
What language was it?

I was under 18 when I learned french. No one else in my family speaks it and I have never left the USA. I used to speak it very fluently, but I have never had the need to use it, so my french has become very rusty although I still remember a lot of it.

And ive only been out of the USA once but not really out out just to Puerto Rico.
I was born in Corleone, Sicily and moved to the states when I was 5 years old, so I grew up speaking both English and Italian. I started taking Spanish when I was in grade school and because I already spoke Italian it was really easy for me and I learned it very quickly… I started studying Spanish when I was 10 and in 5th grade and I was fluent by the time I got into high school… I was the only sophomore ever in my high school to be in AP Spanish and I tutored spanish in high school and college…
I learned chatspeak if that counts
