I think it really depends where you are and what kind of schools do you go to. I go to a small preparatory academy in an affluent area. Therefore, class sizes are much smaller and there isn’t as much diversity.

Because I have been going to the same school since pre-kindergarten, yes it was exactly as I expected: The grade is basically divided into two cliques and then there are 2 or 3 “misfits.” Everyone would be considered “preppy” to most, although by a true definition we are all preps, attending an elite preparatory school in New England, and most of us come from old money families. Although this is beside the point, everyone wears what stereotypical “preps” wear(when we’re not in our uniform): Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers.. However, something I didn’t expect was the intensity. I have three graded assessments everyday and am constantly stressed, or doing homework.

Although, I do know a lot of people attending public schools and they actually do have different cliques (i.e. jocks, nerds, populars..). Mostly people from the same sport all hang out together. This is the same with any clique anywhere. If you have a common interest with someone, you are their friend.
