14 January 2010 17 Responses

A Parent asks, i know you’re legally adult, but i head you are still a teen anyway?
is it true?
if so, when do you stop being one?
its just that it was birthday a few weeks ago and this other girl was like,
‘you’re an adult now not a teenager’
but my teacher was like,
‘in my opinion you stop being a teenager at 21′

so yea, i jsut wanted to make sure.

you stop being a teen once you’re 20.

technically i don’t think you’re an adult until you’re 35 because then you can run for president lol.

    teenage years are 13-19
becoming an adult is considered 20 even though your 18 doesnt mean your a FULL adult.
    you stop when your 20

People say that you stop being a teenager when you turn 20 but I believe that you should stop being refered to as a teenager at 18 I mean seriously, You can Vote, Buy lotto tickets, and cigerettes, if you are responsible for that then you are an adult not a teenager.

My brother is almost 21 and he still acts like he’s 12. People will consider you a teenager as long as you act like one.

yeah. 18 has the word teen in it, therefore you’re still considered a teen. you stop being one when you turn 20.

    yep, nineteen too.
I think I stopped being a teen in my mind at about the age of 22. Now that I’m all of 23 (!) I feel like an old bag. It all depends on work, school, stuff at home. I thought I was an adult when I left school and entered the workforce but it wasn’t until I left work and when back to uni that I feel I grew up. Also finding out we were pregnant earlier this year gave me a swift kick into adulthood.

So yeah, I think it depends on what’s going on in your life.

yes ur not an adult till ur 20 and it really doesnt matter where u live thats why u have six-teen, seven-teen, eight-teen, nine-teen get it lol however profesionals do say that for boys the age is 21 no offence guys but it does take them a little longer to mature lol and 18 isint the legal age everywhere some places u have to be 21 but either way it starts at 13 and ends at 19

Well, figure when a person is nineteen, they’re still, technically a teenager, hence “teen” in the number. Remember though, “teenager” just refers to the number, not your maturity level or how you act. So technically, you’re a teenager ’til you hit the magical 20!

No one person hits the same level of ‘adult’ maturity at the same time… I know enough grown men who act more like they’re 12 than most the 12 year olds I know! =)

Just be yourself, don’t worry about what lable you fit under! Trust me, it won’t be long before you’re wishing you WERE a teenager again! =)

    Take care and good luck!

yes 18, and 19 are your last years as a teenager. 20 is where you stop because it doesn’t have the word teen in it. Thats where it derived from 12 is the end of your adolescent years, and you begin your teen years at 13 and stop at 19.

You stop being a teen at twenty (as others have pointed out – eighTEEN, ninTEEN…) but as far as being classed as an adult is concerned, you are a YOUNG adult. Still young enough to make rash and dumb decisions, but also old enough to know better

well, the truth and the fact about everything is that, so many of the 18 and 19 year old people would not wanna be called teens anymore because, most of them now live alone and tend for themselves……so, though u are still a teen as the dictionary implies, but to the world, u are a young adult. It also depends on your maturity in life. The way u behave and act toward the people around you would tell if u are ready for adult hood. The bottom line is, IF U WANNA BE TREATED AS AN ADULT, YOU HAVE TO START ACTING LIKE ONE…(A RESPONSIBLE ONE)
