A Parent asks, My son is 1year and 5 mos., he is supposed to be drinking milk at least 6 to 8 bottles a day and eat solid food. However my son don’t like eating solid food or drinking milk. He likes to drink more water. What will I do?

Are you serious? At his age, he does NOT need 6-8 bottles a day of milk! Wow! No wonder he’s not eating anything else, his little tummy is full. Only newborns that aren’t eating anything else are supposed to be drinking that many bottles. He should be eating 3-5 small meals a day. Give him a sippy cup (no more bottle) of milk with each meal. In between let him have a sippy cup of water or juice or whatever to drink as he wants it. But he doesn’t need anymore than that.
Go to the doctor. I dont think that’s normal. He can even get anemia.
at this age, actually awhile ago, he should have been only getting 2 8ozs cups of milk.. he does not need that many.. make him breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks that are solid foods.. if he doesnt eat it thats fine.once the next meal/snack time comes he can have another chance to eat.. if he doesnt thats fine.. remember he WILL not starve himself.. he will eat.. i know thats hard but believe me he will eat when he gets really hungry.. give him TWO glasses of milk a day and try to get rid of the bottle.. give it in a sippy cup and give water the rest of the time..
Have you tried feeding him finger foods? I remember my kids liking to feed themselves more at that age than being fed, although they did eat when I fed them, so I really am not sure what other advice to give you in that aspect. As for the milk, I could never get any of my three to drink regular milk until they were at least 2 years old. I was breastfeeding regularly still so they weren’t missing any of the nutrients that the milk provided. I would suggest, if you have been using formula, to switch to a toddler formula, or if you have been breastfeeding and have weened him already to try a toddler formula or an alternative milk (soy milk, rice milk, oat milk, or goat’s milk). You may not like the flavor of them but sometimes taste has a lot of bearing on what a one year old drinks and eats. And like all the others have said, he only needs a few 8 oz. cups of milk a day and it (or it’s substitute) should be whole because a baby that age needs the fat that it provides. I really hope this helps! I wondered for the longest time why my first would absolutely refuse milk for a year, but when it happened to the second and then the third I didn’t stress as much and just made sure their diets were high in fats like cheese. Good luck!!
