Our Child Has Been Accepted At First Choice Primary School But We Want The Second Choice Instead.any Advice?

A Parent asks, Our child is already at the nursery of our second choice and it is alot nearer to home. We put it as second choice because the other school was slightly better. But we changed our mind and think she would be better off at second choice. We have
filled in form rejecting original first choice but nothing on form lets you say you want second choice. Will we get this automatically ?

I would telephone the local educational authority, explain what has happened as ask them if you can now have your second choice. If they are anything like my LEA they will not be very accomodating, but you should persist.
If you have already sent the form in rejecting the first choice you are in a difficult position because that place will have been offered to another child and the second choice school may be full…hopefully it won’t be.
If you still don’t get the school that you want you can appeal – this is your right, and you do sound as though you have a very strong case since your child is already in the nursery and the school is closer.

Holy crap! I couldn’t imagine, ‘filling out’ an ‘application’ to be ‘accepted’ or ‘unaccepted’ at a ‘first choice primary school’. You make it sound like your kid is going to Harvard at the age of a preschooler! Leave him be where he is if he’s enjoying it and it’s more convenient and just fill out the rejection form. My question is WHY? Why do people have to fill out applications and get accepted to a PRESCHOOL. Why do some preschools have ‘interviews’ with the kids? The whole idea is preposterous!!!
Oh dear, you just lost your choice. Try phoning the school to ask about it. They should be able to advice you on what to do.
No you will not get that automatically as thier places may be full! Have you sent the form back yet? You would be better phoning and asking if you can get a place at second choice before turning down 1st choice!
The chances are that you will get your second choice if she is at nursery there we did with our child
No ..its not that easy I’m afraid …you need to contact the education board in your area , the school you now want might not have places
why put it as second if you want it is your first.
its your own fault for being stupid.
