A Parent asks, I am taking medication which means I cannot breastfeed. How will I feed her at the hospital when she is born? Is it ok for her to be formula fed from the time she was born only?

That is perfectly fine
This medication your are taking… are you taking it now while you are pregnant? Or starting after she is born? Anything you take now is passed through the blood stream to the baby. But anyways, YES you can formula feed her from birth. They usually have those tiny bottles with formula in them there already at the hospital. Some woman can’t breastfed.
They say breastfeeding is better because milk that comes from the mothers body is better for them, but since you cannot you will have to feed him formula. it will not hurt the baby at all. Dont worry, and good luck!
dont worry about it many mums do this as they, or cant breastfeed
there are alternitives though, use formula milk instead, which has been made similar to breask milk. they have added vitamins to help your child grow, and make up for the ones lost from the breast milk.
make sure you try extra hard to bond with your child, as you are missing out of it by not breast feeding.
hope this helps =]
No, it’s not wrong. It’s unfortunate, but if that’s the worst that ever happens you’ll be exceptionally lucky.
Most babies are formula fed at some point. Loads of babies are formula fed even in hospital right from the start. She will be fine.
If you really wanted to breastfeed, you could ask your doctor if it would be possible for you to not take your medication for a short while so that baby could have your colostrum for a few days, which is the most important part of breastfeeding. I’ve no idea what medication you are on and it may be completely impossible. But it’s worth asking.
What medications are you taking? Read http://www.kellymom.com/newman/09a-drugs_and_bf.html

There is a chance you can nurse your baby.
Yes you can do that, anyway you don’t have a choice if you can’t breastfeed your baby even though that’s really the best for babies especially for newborns. If you want information about these kinds of things, try this site I found: http://www.PlanAFamily.com . It’s a nice looking site, with good information for mothers, free baby formula and diaper samples and other free baby related promotions.
it’s perfectly fine. i was in the same situation 5 months ago. i had been taking my meds within my first tri, cozi ddnt know that i was preggy. found out, stopped taking meds. resumed as soon as i gave birth. i think u just have to let the nurse know b4 hand so they can prepare it. good luck!
