Try weaning him onto it. Give him breastmilk in a cup mixed 3/4 breastmilk to 1/4 milk/formula…….Do that for a few days, then switch it to 1/2 breastmilk 1/2 formula/milk for a few days and slowly increase the amount of milk in the cup.

EDIT: Not exactly getting the thumbs downs…….I simply gave advice on how to get him on what the MOTHER wants him to drink. And the way I explained is the way that ANY nutritionist will tell you to use when transitioning from one form of nutrition to another….example, if you are weaning from the breast, you mix the formula and breastmilk to keep them from getting a tummy upset from a rapid switch…….Or weaning from formula to cow’s milk to make sure there isn’t an allergy.

You can’t make them if they won’t. My son is now nearly two years old and hates milk. We’ve tried everything including the other advice you got so far. Plus we even bought some flavors to try to flavor it. Its tough since his favorite drink is water, and he doesn’t drink juice. We have to just keep a close eye on his diet to make sure he’s getting the calcium and nutrients he needs through other foods in his diet. Good luck, I hope for your sake he does develop a taste for it.

Maybe he is ready to not have a bottle at all. At 18 months he is old enough to not have breast or bottle. Just increase his milk intake other ways, ie. yogurt, custard, cheese sauce etc.

Get rid of the bottle, he should have been off that 6 months ago. When he is thirsty give him plain cow milk in a sippy cup.

He doesn’t need cow’s milk as long as he is getting calcium from other sources, cheese, yogurt, etc. What will he drink? Ialk to his doctor. Have you tried soy or goat’s milk? He may take that better. Hope you find something that works.

My underweight daughter refused milk, and even the chocolate and strawberry milk that my doctor recommended. We started mixing her favorite, apple juice 50/50 with milk. She gained weight and loved it. Over the months we have changed the mixture to about 90% milk and 10% juice, but it worked and doesn’t curdle, give it a try!

Try putting some Ovaltine in it.

Edit: You know, Ovaltine is pretty low in sugar and has a lot of vitamins and minerals. It gets my son do drink milk. I don’t think it’s such a bad thing. It’s not like I’m pouring chocolate syrup into it!

Mix the breastmilk with the cow’s milk, and gradually decrease the breastmilk and increase the cow’s milk until it is all cow’s milk. If he still refuses it, try giving him chocolate milk or strawberry milk :)

How about trying it with chocolate powder in it to make chocolate or strawberry milk?
Or I just learned today you can add a bit of milk to orange juice and crushed ice to make an orange julius.
