Is your toddler a picky eater or a good eater?

16 March 2010 10 Responses

A Parent asks, Just a curiosity question lol. My 3 year old is a fantastic eater as was my oldest child, but my middle child would only eat like 4 foods without complaining!

What is your toddler like?

My children are so different in this manner.
My 4 year old is and always has been a picky eater. I don’t know how much of this was just the way she is, or how much might have been some of the mistakes that I now know I made while she was getting used to solids (first time mother and all that). My second daughter has been the easiest eater you could imagine and at 16 months old, eats more food in quantity as well as variety than her sister. However, I did delay solids with my second, then gave her a wide variety of foods and didn’t assume she didn’t like the food offered when she refused it, only that she wasn’t hungry. With my first, I would often offer foods I know she enjoyed when she refused other foods. Mistake, I know… but again, she might just be a natural picky eater.

My oldest eats absolutely anything! My youngest eats practically nothing. My middle child is 4 and used to be extremely picky, but lately she is becoming more adventurous and trying some new things. It’s funny; you can use all the same parenting tricks on your children and they still all end up so different! :)

My 3yr old daughter will eat about anything. But she only eats tiny amounts. But she will try anything we give her. My sons would not eat anything except chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.

My 3 year old will eat anything I put in front of her! If she doesn’t like something we compromise and tell her she can only eat a portion of it. However at my in laws she is very picky, not so picky but just doesn’t eat her dinner no matter what. It can be something that she loves but still won’t eat it (at times just a couple of bites). She’s only that way there because she gets really spoiled by my MIL and knows even if she doesn’t touche her dinner she’ll be offered ice cream.

My boy is a good eater, he has like most things we have gotten him to try and i wouldn’t say he was picky.

We introduce him to new foods in small amounts, some of them by themselves others with something else… like broccoli a little cheese sauce makes it more enjoyable for him.

My 4 year old daughter eats just about everything. Well, almost! The only thing she doesn’t eat is “Mummy’s Fish Puke” which is really my home-made salmon mornay. I get her to eat it by sprinkling over some grated cheese or something like that :)
