What type of mattress protector for a toddler?

21 April 2010 2 Responses

A Parent asks, Just asking parents which mattress protector they found more hygenic, absorbent and easy to wash when they started their little ones on night toileting training.

My daughter is dry 9 out of 10 nights, so I want to stop using the night time nappy pants.

Thanks in advance.

If you go to Target, they have a fitted plastic sheet that has a towling top to it, it breaths so they dont sweat on the plastic, but it also protects the mattress, just in case.

I bought a pad the same as used in hospital beds. The waterproof backing is a fabric that is breathable and the top is quilted cotton. I bought it at a large drug store (in Canada – London Drugs). It’s great because you can put it on top of the bottom sheet and then that’s all you have to wash and you don’t have to remake the whole bed every time she has an accident. However, my little guy moves around too much for it to stay in place, so what I do is put it on top of the fitted sheet and then throw a flat sheet over the wet-pad – just on the top half of the bed, so I don’t need to unmake the whole bed to change the wet sheets.
