I’m hearing some really great things about hypnobirthing. I had pitocin every time and a matching epidural. I am praying for a natural birth this time and deciding between hypnobirthing and the old fashioned Bradley method.
Prayer.
Yes it did work. I ws very tired and just wanted to give up and go to sleep-but I prayed through each contraction and thanked God in advance for my child entering the Earth.
I made it through 11 hours of natural labour with no pain relief. Then when the contractions were right on top of eachother I had some gas. He was born an hour later.
I found distraction was the best way of coping. When a pain hit, I would for example say the alphabet backwards in my head, or try to remember lyrics to a song. If you don’t allow yourself to submit to the pain, you can make it bearable. Mind over matter, just keep your mind occupied on something other than the pain. Good luck!
due to a bleeding issue i was unable to reiceve pain meds while laboring. so i have had 3 natural labors.
breathing techniques are very helpful. and i know for a fact as the contraction come son you must manually RELAX. you instictually want to fight against the pain. dont. if you relax you can dilate easier and you wont get so tired so fast.
i loaded my ipod with songs. all kinds. angry rock and soothing and everything. my husband was my DJ. as my labor got harder, my music got louder. that was the best. i would sing along under my breath through the contractions and it helped me get through them.
good luck. nothing wins a pissing contest like stories of natural childbirth. esspeically when one of them is 11 lbs.
i had a horrible back labour. I had had back pains the whole pregnancy so i had bought my self a wheat pack. when in labour i got my partner to heat it up and put it on my lower back. I can’t say it made the labour easier because labour isn’t easy but it did help with the pain a little.
Would you have a tooth out without anaesthetic? Pain medication has developed- embrace it. No need to be a hero. Seems to me that the Mum that gets ripped up the most and has the worst pain wins…something (God knows what) …it’s a load of BS. Just make an informed decision- and tell anyone else (including me) to bug out. I just think that there’s too much pressure on Mums-to-be to be some kind of martyr and endure without modern pain relief. Make your own informed decision and feel happy with that- you don’t need to justify yourself to anyone.
