Q&A: can my period be late after having sex for the first time?
Question by amh: I am 19 years old and had sex for the first time a week ago. We used a condom, but I am 6 days late with my period. I have taken 2 home pregnancy tests 1 with a positive result and the other was negative. I took both tests on the same day. I have been feeling sick and the smell of certain things are making me sick as well. Could I be pregnant?
I had sex on the 21st November, due on the 24th November. I’ve never been late or early before now.

First published in 1973 – and followed by Volume II in 1976 and Volume III in 1980 – this anthology has assumed classic status in the field of Egyptology and portrays the remarkable evolution of the literary forms of one of the world’s earliest civilizations.

Introduced with a new foreword by Antonio Loprieno.
Volume II shows the culmination of these literary genres within the single period known as the New Kingdom (1550-1080 B.C.). With a new foreword by Hans-W.

yup.
I recomend u take another test to make sure.. YES it could be possible that its late after it being ur first time.. { it happnd to me} .. but if 1 of the test was positive.. id repeat !
You might be. Did the condom break? Home tests tend to be pretty accurate. Just to be on the safe side you should go to the doctor’s and get a pregnancy test. That’s the best way to know for certain.
ummm yes mam.
Yes you could be.
You need to repeat the pregnancy test. If another one turns up positive then you definitely are pregnant hon. Yes, even with the use of a condom a girl can get pregnant, sometimes sperm escape if it isn’t on properly or if the condom has slipped during penetration. Good luck!
Yes, you can very well be, condoms are flawed at best, ( but still help, do use them with other protection too ) if they were 100% effective, everyone would use them solely.
Go to a GYN, take a real pregnancy test ASAP, and make up your mind about what to do.You have choices now that you won’t have if you wait.. Contrary to popular BS, it’s not a person yet, nor is it viable. 19 is very young to commit to a whole life and give up yours to raise a child now, unless you are ready and most 19 year olds haven’t even lived yet. I wish you well. I hope you are not pregnant and that you get to live and have fun for a while longer. (unless that is what you truly want now.) and have help…Good luck.
Home pregnancy tests are not always accurate, especially in the first couple of weeks after sex. Wait longer to take the tests again, or go to the doctors for a blood test. Condoms are not always reliable for protection, which is why a combination of birth control is necessary.
You could be, but I would take anoTHer test. The urine should be collected from the first time you urinate in the morning for accuracy. It would help me answer your question a little better if I knew the following-
What was the date of the first day of your last menstrual period, and what was the date you had sex?
***EDIT*** You are probably OK, but the most important information to know is what was the first day of your last menstrual period? When you say you were due to start on the 24th, what are you basing that on? If you have an average cycle of 28 days then I’m assuming your last period started on 10/27 meaning you would have ovulated around 11/9. Your fertile days would have been around 11/6-11/13 or so.
BUT-not all women have 28 day cycles. Basically, the average woman ovulates mid-way through the menstrual cycle, counting the day the bleeding starts as day 1. Sperm can live up to 72 hours (3 days), so you can become pregnant if you have sex roughly 3 days prior to ovulation and up to 3 days after this date.
Condoms certainly minimize risk, but they are not a 100% guarantee.
yes you could be pregnant.. you should visit ur doctor to make sure!!!
When you had sex on the 21st that was past the normal time for you to ovulate, but sometimes it happens when it isn’t expected. If you used a condom and it didn’t break or slip off inside you, you are probably not pregnant. More than likely just stress is making you late. You need to get another hpt and take it first thing in the morning as there are more hormones present in the first urine of the day. It is really soon to be having any pregnancy symptoms like sickness. Take another test and relax and you will probably be okay.
You are likely pregnant. Home pregnancy tests come up false negative but never false positives. Go to a doctor for reassurance.
