A Parent asks, I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and want to breast feed my baby when he is born. I will be returning to work and want to know what is the best breast pump I can buy. I need one that is affordable, convient, and works well. Any suggestions.

If you’re going back to work or full time school, an electric one, Medela pump in style is good. If staying home but for the occasional outing a manual one like Avent Isis or hand expressing (no pump) is good. BUT unless you have complications or *must* be parted before 6 weeks, don’t pump before then and don’t bottlefeed. Just nurse and establish that breastfeeding directly. It takes learning on your part and your baby’s and your body has to adjust to the right supply level during that time.
my sister in law bought a really nice one… i believe it is by Medela and cost approximately $400. I think its the “In Style Advanced” one… they absolutely love it and recommend buying a quality one over saving money and getting a cheap one….
go to http://www.momsmaternity.com and click on Medela
good luck!
I used many affordable breast pumps after I had my two kids. None worked for me except for this one. All the others took me at least 45 minutes to pump what I needed. This one isn’t very affordable but I highly recommend it. If you buy the cheaper ones your wasting your money and you can’t return breast pumps. I bought all the cheap ones and then bought this one. I would have saved tons if someone had told me just to buy the expensive one.

I have the Medela Pump in Style dual breastpump. It’s not the cheapest one around but it’s the BEST!! The lactation consultant reccommended this one for me so that’s what we bought and I LOVED it!! With going back to work and pumping the dual pump will be super quick for you! Good luck…breastfeeding can be difficult but is well worth it!
electric! Manual’s take 2 hoursr to get one drop, go to a breastfeeding class at babies’r'us or just go there and they will tell you all u need to know about them. U dont even have to buy one from them but just to find out about them. They will they you bout pumps, creams, pads, everything for breastfeeding
Medela. I have heard this from many people. They are expensive to buy, but most hospitals have Medela pumps you can rent. If not, you can usually rent them from companies online.
