A Parent asks, I know medela is a very good breast pump. But is there others that are just as good, but not so expensive?? I need an electric pump REALLY REALLY bad!

Get a used Medela pump, and get new attachments. Its the attachments, that need to be sanitary. And its only a very very very low risk, that the pump/ the electrical part, could get contaminated by milk, and for that milk itself to have an issue.

I got the smallest Medela elec pump that they make, it was about $70 and I don’t pump a bunch, just 1 or 2 bottles a day….to use and for storage. Its perfect for me. If you are pumping a lot and all day then I would reccomend the bigger one or a double pump. Good luck. I was also told that some of the cheaper pumps can actually make you loose your milk supply or cause other problems.

I have the Ameda Purely Yours pump and love it. I luckily borrowed it from a friend and just bought the extra parts, but new I thinks its about $170 which is a bit less than the medela. The person I borrowered from had rented the medela with her second kid and didnt like it so bought this one with her third and liked it better. If you find it used the replacement parts cost me about $50
