Australian Mum’s… Is hiring an electric breastpump expensive? Should I just buy one?

A parent asks, Question by Lily: Australian Mum’s… Is hiring an electric breastpump expensive? Should I just buy one?
Ok I had huge problems breastfeeding with #1. I gave up after 1 week. I have partially inverted nipples :( I also had very little milk supply, this time round I’m hoping it will be different.

I’ve been advised to buy a nipple shield and use that but have been told that I would more than likely have to express my milk on the side too. Something about shields making your milk supply run low due to the faster flow?? Anyway all new to me!! Does anybody have a rough idea how much they cost to hire say on a monthly basis? Or if I needed one say for 6 months would I be best to just buy one?! Any suggestions would be great. If it gets all too complicated I’m just going to use formula!

to hire one in my area it is a 0 deposit and a week, I purchased a medela mini electric pump for under 0.
the only reason I purchased one was because I was getting married and my mother in law suggested I express milk so that if my son got hungry during the ceremony he could be fed. at the time I did not have the 0 deposit required to hire one. You can buy an electric pump for as little as 0 from target and kmart. The cheapest electric one I saw was 9 from kmart- NUK brand.

you can hire them from most chemists and the pricing seems to be pretty standard at 0 deposit and a week.
