wot is the best diet for a breast feeding mum to loose weight?

Question by uzi pie: how do I loose weight while I’m breast feeding? exersice and foods to eat. Websites with this information will be welcome.

    It is possible to lose weight while breastfeeding but it is very very important that you still work to get the nutrients and higher amount of calories your body needs. Using standard calorie counting tools isn’t a good idea because your body actually needs more calories to produce breast milk. I would however start a food diary and keep track of what you are eating and how many calories are in it, then start to cut back the calories gradually, making sure that your reduced calorie diet is made up of nutrition dense foods and not empty calorie foods.

    Eating foods high in fiber, lots of raw fruit and veggies and whole grains will provide all the nutrients you need to produce healthy breast milk. These foods are also good for weight loss. Also often it is the patterns in which we eat that help boost the metabolism and help us lose the weight. Eating small meals every few hours regulates the metabolism naturally.

    Beware any supplements and such while breastfeeding unless you speak to a nutritionist or doc first. A good wholefoods multi-vitamin would be beneficial though most likely and help you and baby get the nutrition you need.

    As for exercise, walking, swimming whatever aerobic type exercise you can enjoy. To help reshape and strengthen you may want to try pilates which is excellent for developing core strength and firming/strengthening the abdominal area. Yoga is also a nice way to relax :) . it’s important though to do things you find enjoyable so that you will stick with it.
