Irregular period after childbirth and not breastfeeding anymore?

2 July 2010 One Response

Question by ashej7: I have an almost 5 month old and been on birth control 6 weeks post pardom and stopped breastfeeding when my son was 11 weeks old. I had my first period 24 days after starting birth control and it was very normal. 2 weeks later I had another period that was very heavy and lasted for 5 days when it ususlly last about 3 days, then 2 weeks after that i started again and it was very normal. Now I should be on my period, but it is really think and dark reddish brown. Im having really bad cramps which is normal for me. I have had sex with my husband 2 times since the baby, and that was last week, so it would be too soon to take a pregnancy test. Any suggestions? Is this normal? Im going to the doctor next week, but would like some oppinions.

It sounds like just a hormonal upset in your case it would be normal. Being pregnant then giving birth then breast feeding then starting the birth control. If you look at that way your body went threw a lot of hormonal changes in short order and it may take a month or 2 to get straightened back around. It’s good that you have a doctors appointment, so this way you can double check everything.
