How long will it take to produce more milk?

Question by Layla is born!!: I breastfed my 2 week old about half an hour ago then as soon as she went off to sleep I decided to express some milk to put in the fridge just in case we needed to go out or something.
I managed to express exactly 125ml but now my breasts are drained of milk, I need to feed my baby in about 3 hours so how long will it take for my breasts to build up milk again after i expressed so much?

you will be fine, you will have more than enough milk when she is ready. The breast is never really empty, it just gets harder and harder to get the milk out as you “empty” it. Milk is constantly being produced.
I hope you’re not scheduling your newborn’s feedings. At that age, my daughter was nursing far more often than every 3-4 hours. Anyway, milk production is a supply-and-demand thing, and you’re never really all the way empty. If you’re feeding your baby as much and as often as she wants, you should have plenty for her whenever she wants to nurse again.
You will be fine, the more you make, the more you make. When your baby cries your milk will let down.
You’re breast are never truly empty and if your baby is nursing directly you can’t judge your supply on how much you pump. Pumping doesn’t get nearly the amount of milk out as baby. Your breasts will make more milk as she feeds.
The more you express/breastfeed, the more you will produce. In the beginning there won’t be as much milk expressed but over time it will grow. 3 hours is plenty of time to have enough milk for your baby again. Drink a lot of water/liquids and you will continue to generate more. It’s actually a good idea to sip on water as you are expressing, if possible.
