How to detect ovulation accurately and how often do we need to perform these tests?

A Parent asks, Have used ovulation kits but does not shows any positive results. I normally try once a day between 12-14 day post period.

It depends how long your cycle is. You might be checking too late.
If your cycle is 28 days, start checking on day 11.
Make sure to follow all of the instructions (e.g., taking the test at least 2 hours after you woke up; taking it at the same time each day; reducing fluid intake 2 hours before the test, etc.)
I also recommend the book “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” that gives you other indications to follow.
You do not *need* ovulation tests in order to conceive if there’s no fertility issue. Count back 16 days from the length of your cycle and the next 5 days or so should be your most fertile ones.
If your cycle is 28 days, for example, start from day 12 and continue through day 17.
