When should i start my period after birth when not breastfeeding?

A Parent asks, My son is just about to be 3months and i still have not started my first real period yet. After i gave birth, i bled for about 4wks, which i breast fed through that time. I then began formula feeding, and i still have not started my period. Is that normal?

Everyone is different. I bled for 6 wks after my first child and for about 4 after my second. My period got back to normal about 3-4 months after the birth of both babies.

There is always the other reasons….you aren’t pregnant again are you? I knew someone that was pregnant again before her baby was 2 months old.

You may just want to check with your ob/gyn. They could start you on the pill that would regulate you.

Good luck and congrats on the new baby!!
