Can coming off birth control delay your next period?
A Parent asks, I started taking YASMIN in March2007.I took it for just that month. I did not take it for April because of the physical side effects I had with it. I have a pretty regular 28 day cycle. My LMP was 03/28/07. On 04/10 I had some cramping in my ovary area and Had the egg white looking thing. I had sex on 04/11/07 But we use the pull out method (it has worked for us for the last year and a half). I expected my period on 4/25/07. I am now on day 30 of 28..I already did a PG test but it came out negative. So my question is Can coming off birth control delay your next period?
I am a little confused on this.. Because I had sex when i was ovulating..But then I stopped taking BC..Can taking it one month really effect it that bad?

yes it can some times you wont get a normal period for about a year.
yes it can, you body doesnt quite know what has happend, sometimes it can come early or late, dont stress just yet, wait another week
Yes it can. It takes some women a few months or longer to get back on track.
it might if you were using the pill to regulate your cycle
It did with me. I was on the pill for 3.5 years when I got off of it and if delayed my period but only for 2 weeks, then it came back.
Absolutely. Going on it, coming off of it, other factors like diet change, stress, all of those things can effect your period.
Yes, especially if you had a lot of adverse side affects from taking the pill. Your body is reacting.
I would say to wait another week before retaking the test just in case it was a false positive.
Yes, any time you put birth control into your body it can mess with your cycle a bit, even if it was only for one month. You can try another pregnancy test in a day or two. More likely, you’re just late for your period.
As you know, though, the pull out “method” is really not foolproof. If you aren’t ready to be pregnant and have a baby, use a condom or another method and you’ll have greater piece of mind.
Yea it does – same thing happened to me when I went off & switched forms of BC.
When I called my doctor he said it might skip a whole month all together & it can take 3mos for your cycle to regulate. Talk about making a person antsy & I was so grateful when it finally did come, but it did.
Plus your only a couple days late. I wouldnt worry about it, your hormones have to get back in check. If you dont get it in the next couple of weeks, take a nother test – if its negative then wait til its been a month late – then let your doc know. I doubt your pregnant .
