Does having a cold/flu hurt my chances of conceiving?

A Parent asks, both my partner and i have a cold/flu but we are ttc. we have bd’ed on all necessary days, but could the cold have worsened our chances of being successful?

    It won’t have much impact on your partner, as his sperm were produced about 70 days ago, LONG before he got sick. It may have an impact on you, as illness can mess with your hormones and cause you to ovulate early or late. As long as you timed things the best you could, you did your best and all you can do is wait and see. Make sure you’re staying hydrated and avoid cold/flu meds just incase. Also, congrats on being able to bd when you’re both sick — I bet that was the last thing you felt like doing! Such dedication! Good luck!

    It can if it affects your mucus. If you get very congested you can bet your mucus got thicker making it harder for the sperm to swim through it.
