Do you have intercourse on the most fertile days before ovulation?

4 March 2010 4 Responses

A Parent asks, I’m using the ovulation calendar for the first time.. me and my husband are trying to get pregnant. My nurse put me on clomiphene because I was not ovulating each month. My period this month started on the 11th and ended on the 17th. My nurse told me to have intercourse between the 10th and 16th of my cycle. Me and my husband had intercourse yesterday which is the 19th. Can I still get pregnant even though we had intercourse on the 9th day of my cycle?

    Hey There,

What you need to do is to have sex every day or every 2nd day of your cycle starting at day 7 or 8 until about day 20….this way you will cover all angels. You could ovulate early or late – not every woman ovulates on day 14…. I have ovulated on day 17 this month…….

Keep an eye on your cervical mucus too – and remember when you see egg white cervical mucus, that’s when you are most fertile

Good luck and keep us posted – tons of baby dust to you xxxxxx

It is possible, if you ovulate early… but your best bet is to keep getting it on until ovulation passes. It is best to keep trying until you know for sure your fertile time has passed especially if you don’t normally track your ovulation. Try tracking your ovulation with charting your bbt temperatures – this way you will have a better idea of when you do ovulate. Check out fertilityfriend.com – it tells you how to do it if you aren’t doing it already and gives you a free program to keep track with it :)

You should be having lots of sex before, during and after you ovulate, but specially a couple of days before you ovulate. Once you have all ready ovulated it may be too late to conceive.
You could ovulate between those times and a good percentage of women do, but there are some that ovulate just after or just before their periods. Keep track of your bbts or your cervical mucus on an ovulation chart this should give you a better idea of when you ovulate.
Have fun and keep trying and lots of baby dust to you.

Are you monitoring fertility signs like cervical mucus or cervical position? And how long are your cycles?

Cycle day 9 may be kinda early to get pregnant, but its still possible.

We are all different, but the rule of thumb is you ovulate 12-14 days before your period starts. So check your calender as another way to check. Also around ovulation, you should feel wetter down there. You should be getting clear slippery discharge to help his sperm make it.

    hope it helped
