How Long Does Your Temperature Dip Occur For During Ovulation?

12 October 2009 One Response

A Parent asks, When your bbt dips during ovulation, how long does your temperature stay down for before it rises up? I take my temperature at different times every day because I sleep in different places and don’t get the chance to do it every day when I wake up. I don’t want to miss ovulation and was curious if it only stayed dipped for an hour or a whole day or whatever….
Thanks for all your help! TONS OF BABY DUST TO ALL!!!!

From what I understand, there is no “dip” before or during ovulation… I’ve only heard of an “implantation dip” that occurs if you are successful and the egg attaches to the lining. Some women will notice a drop in temperature the day before they ovulate. Really what you’re looking for is a rise in temperature to confirm ovulation (by at least 0.20 degrees) that keeps rising and/or stays elevated. You might get a lower temp one day, a more “normal” follicular phase temp the next, then it would start to rise. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Good luck though and tons of baby dust.
