How long after giving birth can you go swimming?

A Parent asks, I know kind of random… but will you get an infection if you go swimming in a chlorinated pool after giving birth? what about a hot tub? please and thank you!

You should be fine, but i suggest just waiting a week or so just to be on the safe side.
You are going to have bleeding for a couple of weeks, and are not allowed to wear tampons; so swimming is pretty much out of the question. Other than that, you should ask your doctor.
You may want to check with your OB/GYN on that one. Most likely, the chlorine would help keep you protected from infection, but you should check just to be sure. My doctor had me abstain from sex with the hubby for 6 weeks, so maybe that would be the same time period for anything that could put you at risk?
I wasnt allowed to go until after my 6 week checkup. Which sucked because i had a summer baby

I called My OBGYN and the dr said do NOT swim until my 4 week post postpartum appoinment the Dr said you could get infection.
