Do you always dialate a few days before you go into labor?

A Parent asks, Today is my due date with my first baby. I had a doctors appointment this afternoon and my doctor checked me at the appointment. She said that there was no sign of labor at all. My cervix is posterior, hard, closed, and not effaced. She told me to set up another appointment for Friday and if nothing is going on my then, she wants to set an appointment to induce. I am just wondering if this same thing has happened to anyone else and they ended up going into labor on their own or if they were induced.

it happened to me on my due date then i waited another 5 days an went into labor on my own however i ended up having the syntocinin drip to move the contractions along as i was not progessing on my own then after 20hrs my baby got distressed and had to have an emergency c-section…
thats just my experience alot of women have the same problem an have normal labor an delivery…

Ive had the honor of being induced with my son who decided that keeping me in labour for 6 whole days was fun.The reason I was induced is because I didnt dilate & my waters wouldnt break.(plus I was exhausted)
My daughter was the complete opposite she wanted to come out at 24wks & I was fully dilated so they stitched me up to keep her in.
So I’d say your doctor is definitely right if nothings happening by Friday make the decision then to induce. You never know your little bundle might have changed its mind about coming out by then.
