Surprisingly I enjoyed the birth experience more than anything in pregnancy..I was so scared for like 8 month and then i got so huge that i didn’t care I just wanted him out….I got an epi (the decision is yours) ut it relaxed me and made me stay calm… I remember it like it was yesterday…I had w a wonderful nurses and the best doctor ever…it was after the birth that I hated…My son was in the NI CU for a few days (he didn’t even need to be…me and my doctor were P.O) that is another story…Good luck to you and your new family….

It was wonderful, surreal, memorable, amazing and manageable. I had the best book ever that I think is what gave me the positive frame of mind and gave me control. It’s ‘Birth Skills’ by Ju Ju Sundin.

Her biggest thing is ‘IT’S HEALTHY PAIN, POSITIVE PAIN’. It’s not sick pain, your not sick, your having a baby. It goes through distraction techniques. I had gas and only from when I was 8cm. My baby boy was 8lb 13oz and my first. The midwives are wonderful, but if your not happy with who is assigned to you, say you want someone else, thats ok to do. It’s about you and your little one.

Biggest thing to remember, breath calmly and deeply as holding your breath tenses your muscles and will only contribute to increasing the pain. It can be well managed through breathing. Best of luck to you. When it’s over, you’ll see it’s so quick to when your holding your baby in your arms.
