Is it normal to be irregular after miscarriage?

19 February 2010 3 Responses

A Parent asks, I miscarried at 8 weeks in mid January and didn’t get my next period till mid March and it was much longer than usual (7 days). I think I am am due again but no signs at all and usually I can tell when its coming as I get mild stomach cramps. Just wondering if I should go get a pregnancy test or wait it out and see.

It is not unusual to be irregular and can take up to 8 weeks to get the first period after a m/c. The first is usually also longer and has more volume. It can take up to 3 months toget a regular cycle back but you could also be pregnant since you are very fertile after a m/c. Wait a week and test then. Maybe you got lucky! Good luck!!

Your hormones are all over the place right now! it takes up to 6 months for your hormones to get back to normal after a miscarriage. but your also extremely fertal too so i would get a test and if its negative sit back and wait. best wishes!
